The Love of God as Described in the Torah

When many people think about the Torah, they often think of laws, rules, and commandments. Some even believe the God of the Old Testament is harsh and distant. But when you take time to read the Torah carefully, a different picture begins to appear. He raised Moses to lead them out of slavery with great signs and wonders.God did not rescue them because they were stronger than Egypt. He rescued them because He loved them and remembered His covenant with their fathers.His love moved Him to act on behalf of His people.The Law Was Given in LoveMany people see the Law as a burden, but it was actually a gift.God had already rescued Israel before giving them His commandments. The Law was not a way to earn His love. It was a guide for people who were already loved.

The commandments taught Israel how to live in peace, justice, holiness, and care for one another. They protected families, the poor, foreigners, widows, and orphans.God’s instructions reflected His loving heart.God’s Patience in the WildernessThe Israelites complained many times during their journey through the wilderness. They doubted God, worshipped idols, and often wanted to return to Egypt.
